Not sure if you guys are aware, but Minka is currently shooting a film called “Searching for Sonny” co-starring Jason Dohring. Nice to see these two reunite after The CW passed on their television pilot “The Body Politic”.
SEARCHING FOR SONNY is the story of three bumbling friends who come back home for their high school reunion only to get sucked into a small-town murder mystery that is eerily similar to a play they performed in high school.
It is the first film to be shot entirely on a DSLR camera.
For more information on the film visit the website or the Twitter page. You can also hit up the Facebook page for a ton of photos from the set.
News on this film kind of went from zero to 100 very quickly. Pretty much as soon as Minka was announced to star in the film, she was off to film it.
In other news, we should find out if Minka’s comedy pilot for CBS called True Love goes to series in the coming days. Exciting!
With the network upfront presentations approaching soon, here is the latest pilot buzz update from THR:
CBS: “Hawaii Five-O” remains the most likely drama to receive a series order. Brett Ratner’s CIA drama “Chaos” and legal drama “Defenders” with Jim Belushi and Jerry O’Connell are considered top contenders. Nobody seems to like the “Criminal Minds” spinoff, yet most believe the drama will get picked up for midseason anyway. Among comedies, “Bleep My Dad Says” (aka “Shit My Dad Says”) seems to be an easy bet with William Shatner in the title role. Executives are said to like “HIMYM” creators’ Carter Bays and Craig Thomas’ “Livin’ on a Prayer.” Multicamera comedies “True Love” and Chuck Lorre’s “Mike and Molly” have mixed reviews, but one can’t ever count out Lorre at CBS.
Hopefully the show gets picked up. We’ll know for sure on May 19th, unless CBS announces it early.
